The Food and Drug Administration in Rwanda, FDA, has closed eight alcohol factories and revoked their license to operate.

Industries that have been closed include Ingufu Gin and others include NBG Ltd, Sky Drop Industries Ltd, Africana Buffalo Ltd, Nopa Company Ltd, Roots Investment Group Ltd, Rugali Agro-Processing Company and Zhonglu Industrial Liability Company Ltd.

The FDA, through a statement issued this Sunday, asked those who bought alcohol produced by these factories to remove them from the market as soon as they received this announcement, ordering the owners of these factories to immediately ask the distributors of these drinks in the market to collect them and remove them from the consumers.

Distributors of these beverages must also return all remaining products and those collected at the point of manufacture.

Manufacturers of these beverages are also required to report to the FDA the action to collect all these beverages within three (3) business days from this Sunday, August 02, 2026 when the announcement was issued.

Distributors and retailers of closed industrial beverages are ordered to immediately stop distributing and selling them, and return the remaining beverages to their suppliers, whether distributors or producers. The FDA also advises those who drink these drinks to avoid them.

FDA states that non-compliance with these regulations will result in additional regulatory and regulatory actions, and that a list of other industry actions will be announced in due course, as regulatory and compliance efforts continue.

FDA takes this decision after it took another decision on Saturday to stop the importation of alcohol, as well as its distribution around the country
