Movie actor Musabyimana Charles, popularly known as ‘Diallo’ for his role in the movie Tears of Love, got engaged before the law to Mukeshimana Léonie, after many years of separation from their former spouses.

This ceremony took place on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in Jabana Sector, Kigali City, where Musabyimana Charles and Mukeshimana Léonie decided to live together as husband and wife before the law.

It was a day full of joy and emotion, after a journey of love that the couple says was built little by little, mostly through prayer.

Diallo: “Today it is raining, that’s why I thank God”

After exchanging vows, Charles Musabyimana did not hide his happiness, saying that it was the day he had wanted to achieve for many years.

He explained that he had been separated from his first wife for 14 years, while the children they had were still living with their mother. During all those years, he lived a lonely life and never expected to find someone to marry again.

In few words but expressing a lot of emotions, he said:

“I’m very happy. It’s been many years since I wanted to rebuild my home but it didn’t go as I wanted. Today it’s happening, that’s why I thank God.”

Charles said that his love with Mukeshimana Léonie did not start as an intention to get married, but that they met in prayer, as the days passed and they got to know each other better.

He said that they started praying together from October 2025, and at that time he never thought that the person he was with in that prayer journey would become his wife.

After a few months, in March 2026, he felt in his heart the desire to ask Mukeshimana if he would accept them living as husband and wife. He asked her, and she would not agree.

Mukeshimana Léonie had also been single for 15 years

Mukeshimana Léonie also said that her romance with Diallo was built slowly, as they both had similar life histories in terms of divorce from their previous spouses.

She explained that she was also married and had a child with her first husband, but she had been living alone for about 15 years.

He said that what made him agree to live with Diallo is that they have a lot in common, and they both have a desire to rebuild a family based on love and respect.

He said:

“I am very happy. I have been single for 15 years, but today I feel happy because I found someone with whom we will share the journey of life.”

Mukeshimana added that as they got to know each other, he found Diallo to be someone they had a lot in common with, which made him feel that their love should be given a chance, and God guide it.

Movie stars join them in the fun

This ceremony was attended and supported by some of the actors who worked with Musabyimana Charles in the movie, expressing happiness and celebration of the new step this actor has taken in his life.

This story was also received with great emotion by Rwandan cinema lovers, especially adults who have followed the works of Musabyimana Charles in recent years.

‘Diallo’, the name given to him by Tears of Love

Musabyimana Charles is one of the actors who have had a long-standing reputation in Rwandan cinema.

He became famous in the movie Tears of Love, where he played the father of Fabiola, a mother who did not want her daughter to fall in love with Manzi, who was a driver.

His role in this film is what earned him the nickname ‘Diallo’, which is what many call him to this day.

His acting skills have won him various awards. In 2015, he received the award for the best actor in the A Thousand Hills Academy Awards, one of the awards that have been given to the best actors in Rwandan cinema.

Although he has achieved various achievements in his career, his life has also been characterized by difficult times. In 2001, when he was participating in the Tour du Rwanda race, he had a serious accident.

They started another life journey

After many years of being alone, Musabyimana Charles and Mukeshimana Léonie decided to start another life journey together.

Both of them say that they will build their home on love, mutual respect, helping each other, breaking the same bond and putting God first in everything.
